Color on Metal
Created from new and reclaimed steel, when available. Resists, hand-cut stencils and paints are applied, layered and processed. The pieces are then treated with patinas that bring out the natural variations that occur with rust, oxidation and staining. A controlled yet unpredictable process which always leads to an intriguing and one-of-a-kind result. Custom colors, sizes and designs available.
About Me
I never had any specific plans for my life except for the desire and passion to create. I believed I would make things for living, that it would always be my path but I haven’t always known just how it was going to unfold. Being a firm believer in signs and cues from the universe, I was guided out west by a shooting star and that’s where this creative life had its start. I will never forget one of my metalsmithing instructors telling me that my thesis work could carry me through life after art college. She saw in me what I didn’t see in myself and now here I am all these years later creating color on metal pieces on a much larger scale, even acknowledged for it.
I have mostly always worked for myself since college many moons ago and have pieced together all kinds of small businesses and creative gigs. Working with my hands has always been the central theme of most of them. Co-owning a custom concrete & metal shop for the last 10 years has had the biggest impact while being the most profound of all these experiences.
Being on the other side of it now with a new path in front of me as I reinvent myself, I’m excited to introduce my art to a new community and audience. Creating this shift in my life, I have gained new perspective on the things that are important to me and the role that the designing and making of things play in my life. I have new plans and intentions to share my story and creative capabilities with the world around me and make an impact on others lives, I know that the answers of how this emerges will present themselves as I go.
